Overview
Account Manager, Amazon Jobs in New York, NY at Steve Madden
Title: Account Manager, Amazon
Company: Steve Madden
Location: New York, NY
ABOUT THE ROLE
Steve Madden is seeking an Amazon Account Manager to own the commercial performance of an assigned brand portfolio — Steve Madden Women's, Madden Girl, Betsey Johnson, Anne Klein, Blondo, Dolce Vita, or Steve Madden Kids. This is a focused, hands-on role for someone who understands Amazon at the account level, manages their brands with a P&L mindset, and partners closely with the Marketing Manager and BI Analyst to drive outcomes. You own the account relationship, the commercial strategy, and the results. Execution lives with you — not an agency.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Account Strategy & Commercial Ownership
- Own the Amazon & Zappos business for an assigned brand portfolio; manage revenue, sell-through, and inventory performance with a clear line of sight to profitability
- Build and execute the seasonal account plan; align assortment, promotional calendar, and marketing investment with brand priorities and Amazon's platform cadence
- Lead the joint business planning relationship with Amazon Vendor Managers; negotiate promotional placements, co-op funding, and expanded selection commitments
- Develop and present seasonal recaps and forward-looking plans to the Director; flag risks and opportunities before they become surprises
Item Setup & Catalog Management — Streamlined
- Own the new item setup process for assigned brands; work within a defined internal calendar where bottlenecks have been compressed and approvals are structured
- Maintain catalog integrity; manage variations, content updates, and listing health — with automation tools and agency support handling routine maintenance
- Partner with the Junior BI Analyst on SKU-level performance data; use sell-through, glance views, and conversion metrics to inform assortment decisions
Marketing & Media Partnership
- Work in lockstep with the Marketing Manager on campaign timing, content readiness, and promotional strategy for assigned brands
- Ensure PDPs are optimized before media scales; own the content quality of your brand portfolio and brief central marketing on asset needs with clear specs and deadlines
- Coordinate Prime Day and seasonal event readiness for assigned brands; align inventory, promotional setup, and media timing across internal and agency teams
Reporting & Performance Management
- Own the weekly performance view for assigned brands; monitor sales, traffic, glance views, conversion, and ad spend — and act on what the data shows
- Use the reporting infrastructure built by the BI Analyst and Director; contribute to it by flagging gaps and requesting the metrics you actually need to manage the business
- Deliver post-event recaps within 5–7 business days; be in the data during events, not waiting for an agency summary
WHAT YOU BRING
Required
- 2–5 years of Amazon Vendor Central or Seller Central account management experience; familiarity with item setup, catalog management, PO processing, and Vendor Manager relationships
- Commercial instincts; you understand how account decisions connect to P&L outcomes and you manage your brands with a profitability lens, not just a task list
- Strong organizational skills and high output; you manage multiple brands simultaneously, hit deadlines, and maintain quality without constant direction
- Collaborative working style; you partner closely with marketing, sales, and BI counterparts — you do not operate in a silo
- Clear communicator; you escalate the right issues at the right level, write clean internal briefs, and represent your brands credibly in leadership conversations
- Bias for action; you find a way forward, do not wait to be told what to do next, and bring solutions rather than status updates
- Located in or able to commute to the New York Metro area; on-site presence required
Preferred
- Experience in footwear, accessories, or fashion; familiarity with seasonal buying cycles, style-level sell-through, and assortment planning
- Familiarity with Amazon retail media basics; you do not need to run campaigns, but you should understand how advertising supports account performance
- Exposure to BI or reporting tools; you are comfortable working with dashboards and pulling your own data when needed
