The Aesthetician deals with the skin care needs of the clients. They treat skin problems and provide skin care advice. Aestheticians can work in hotels, spas, beauty salons, resorts, and health clubs. An Aesthetician deals with clients all the time, so he/she must possess excellent public relation skills.
Qualifications
Typically requires a successful completion of a cosmetology program, and appropriate licensure or certification.
Performs work under minimal supervision.
Handles complex issues and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.
Must have a high service-oriented and caring disposition and attitude.
Must maintain stringent cleanliness codes.
Must exhibit high personal hygiene and grooming standards.
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Job Responsibilities
May be involved in selling beauty products.
Administer body hair removal treatments.
Must keep the skin care equipment sterilized and disinfect them.
Perform demonstrations on proper skin hygiene and skin care regimens.
Discuss with clients the various treatment options and their cost implications.
Examine and evaluate clients’ skin using visors or magnifying lamps to analyze skin conditions and skin care needs.
Select and apply cosmetic products such as creams, lotions, and tonics.
Perform facials to deep-cleanse skin pores and improve overall skin tone.
Refer clients with skin disorders to dermatologists for treatment of serious skin problems.
