Responsibilities
- Measure customers accurately to determine necessary alterations and adjustments
- Use sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques to modify garments according to specifications
- Perform garment construction repairs, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and replacing zippers or buttons
- Consult with customers to understand their needs and provide professional recommendations for alterations
- Ensure all alterations meet high-quality standards while adhering to safety protocols
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace with well-maintained sewing equipment and tools
- Communicate clearly with team members and customers to ensure expectations are met efficiently
Experience
- Prior experience working in fashion retail or a tailoring environment is preferred
- Proficiency with sewing machines, garment construction, and sewing techniques is essential
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Basic math skills for taking measurements and calculating adjustments accurately
- Knowledge of garment fitting standards and alteration processes
- Familiarity with fabric types, sewing patterns, and basic garment repair methods is advantageous
