THE OPPORTUNITY:Art Director/Designer (freelance to perm)
REPORTS TO:Creative Director
LOCATION:Los Angeles, CA
Birdy Grey is seeking an Art Director/Designer for an exciting new project. We’re on the lookout for someone who thrives in the world of visual storytelling and is passionate about shaping brand identities. As an AD/Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role in creating a new brand identity, and develop and execute eye-catching campaigns across various platforms.
Scope Of Responsibilities
Develop a complete brand identity including concepts, framework, and guidelines.
Lead major campaign development from concepts to execution.
Ensure all creative work meets brand guidelines, reflects our customer’s taste in design & fashion trends, and is grounded in an ongoing awareness of our competitive landscape.
Pitch creative ideas effectively to gain support from leadership.
Direct casting, styling, and hair & makeup for shoots, both on location and in-studio.
Manage pre and post-production tasks, including retouching and color correction.
Collaborate with creative and product teams to align on design strategy.
Research new fashion trends, promotional ideas, and digital content to drive innovation.
Inspire others through innovative design approaches and ideas.
Leverage a deep understanding of design systems, grids, color, typography and photography to deliver clear and powerful messages.
Plan, prioritize, and produce a high volume of work – taking ownership from start to finish.
Meet deadlines and proactively communicate the status of projects to partners and leaders.
Bring energy & enthusiasm to the team through celebrations, mentoring, volunteering and fundraising events.
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE:
QUALIFICATIONS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree Required
Experience / Requirements
6+ years of design experience in lifestyle/fashion, advertising, or related field
Portfolio demonstrating design advertising excellence
3+ years in photo art direction
2+ years of management experience
DTC apparel experience, preferably in a menswear or womenswear brand
Experience working with package design
Expert in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and Google Suite
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform data deep dives to surface actionable insights
Proactive problem solver with the ability to troubleshoot and/or escalate issues effectively
Hard working and willing to roll sleeves up – no job is too big or too small
You have an entrepreneurial spirit. You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, fluid environment. You are comfortable with ambiguity and take initiative to lead projects.
