Located in the heart of the East Village at 118 E 1st St, Poemo Art is an innovative physical retail and gallery space. We specialize in curating unique art and design experiences for our customers. We are currently looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Retail Intern to join our daily operations.

This is a growth-oriented role designed for candidates looking for long-term career development in the art and retail industry. Exceptional interns will have a clear pathway to transition into a full-time management role.

Position Overview

  • Location: 118 E 1st St, New York, NY 10009
  • Hours: 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Shift-based, requiring flexibility)
  • Type: Internship (1–3 month probationary/training period) with strong potential for full-time conversion.

What You'll Do

  • Customer Experience: Act as the face of Poemo Art, warmly welcoming guests, introducing featured products and artworks, and delivering exceptional service.
  • Sales & Operations: Assist with checkout processes, accurately operating the POS system and handling transactions.
  • Visual Merchandising: Execute product staging, ensure displays are visually striking, and maintain the overall aesthetic and cleanliness of the store.
  • Inventory Management: Support daily restocking efforts, organize stockrooms, and assist with inventory tracking.
  • Event & Media Support: Assist with the setup and execution of in-store events, VIP client visits, and on-site photography/videography sessions.

Who You Are

  • Education: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program. (Degrees in Art, Design, Fashion, or related fields are highly preferred).
  • Language: Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
  • Communication: You possess excellent interpersonal skills and a natural service-oriented mindset.
  • Availability: Flexible and able to work shift-based hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Experience: Previous experience in retail, galleries, or customer-facing roles is a plus, but a strong willingness to learn is just as valuable.
