JOB DESCRIPTION – ASSISTANT DESIGNER (APPAREL)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Design Support
- Deliver defined number of designs per season
- Research on areas as guided for material, technique, silhouette, detail etc.
- Assist in sourcing fabrics and trims from vendors
- Stay updated with fashion trends relevant to the brand
- Actively participate in design discussions, reviews, and brainstorming sessions
2.Sample Development
- Assist in sketches, technical drawings, and spec sheets for sampling
- Renders of the final designs
- Development of textures/embroideries and details
- Support prototype development as per shortlisted silhouettes
- Work closely with the pattern master to ensure prototypes meet design specifications and quality standards
- Refine samples based on feedback and testing
- Assist in final sample development with required corrections
3.Archiving & Documentation
- Ensure organized documentation of all design and sampling stages
- Seasonal archiving as per defined systems
4.Meetings & Presentation
- Prepare for internal/external meetings with design updates
- Assist in seasonal presentations for sales teams
5.Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with cross-functional teams (sampling, production, outside vendors etc)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design from a reputed design institute
- 2-4 years of work experience in luxury design house
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of silhouettes, garment construction, fit, and proportion
- Ability to create sketches, technical drawings, and spec sheets
- Excellence in design
- Knowledge of fabrics and fall
- Experience in sample development and coordination with pattern masters
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and basic Excel
- Ability to conduct focused research (silhouettes, details, )
- Understanding of trims, surface development, and finishing techniques
- Basic awareness of costings
