Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Braiding Assistant to join our team and support in creating beautiful braided hairstyles for our clients. The Braiding Assistant will work closely with me to ensure a smooth and efficient braiding process, as well as maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Key Responsibilities:
– Assist Braiders in preparing the hair for braiding, including shampooing, detangling and sectioning
– Provide support to Braiders during the service, including braiding, holding sections of hair and helping to apply products or accessories as needed
– Help with balancing multiple clients
– Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including cleaning and sanitizing tools and equipment after each use
– Greet clients and assist with scheduling appointments, as needed
– Assist with inventory management, including tracking and ordering supplies
– Stay up-to-date with current trends and styles in braiding to provide the best possible service to clients
– Content creation/editing & social media management (optional, will include bonus if able$$)
– Follow all safety and sanitation procedures, including proper handling and disposal of chemicals and tools
– Assist with other salon duties, as needed
Qualifications:
– High school diploma or equivalent preferred
– Previous experience in hair braiding or a related field preferred
– Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions
– Excellent communication and customer service skills
– Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
– Flexibility to work weekends and evenings, as needed
– Familiarity with a variety of hair types and textures preferred
Physical Requirements:
– Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
– Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
– Must be able to reach, bend, and stoop as needed
Dress Code: Strictly enforced
– Hair: Hair should be styled in a neat and professional manner, and should not interfere with the braiding process.
– Clothing: Braiding Assistants should dress in a clean and professional manner. Clothing should be Modest/Casual/Salon professional and appropriate for the salon environment, and should not interfere with the braiding process.
Work Hours and Schedule:
Braiding Assistants should be prepared to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and potentially holidays if possible. Braiding Assistants can expect to work between 10 and 40 hours per week, depending on their availability and the needs of each work week.
It’s important to note that the salon industry can be unpredictable, and busy periods may require longer hours or more frequent shifts. Braiding Assistants should be prepared to adapt to changing schedules and workloads as needed.
Job Types: Part-time, Apprenticeship
Pay: $10.00 – $12.50 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 20 per week
