As an Assistant Buyer, you will be our expert in developing and managing seasonal merchandise mixes and edits that are unparalleled in Asia. You will work collaboratively with our team of seasoned buyers and brand partners to ensure that Lane Crawford will always be the top-of-mind destination.
The Role
- Assist the buying team to achieve seasonal sales and profit targets based on the seasonal business plan
- Negotiate with suppliers in a tough but fair manner to secure exclusive ranges / brands and optimize the profit margin
- To be proactive in understanding the competition, and take action to minimize any loss of Lane Crawford market share
- Determine pricing strategies for products/suppliers based on market reviews, competitor positions, supplier financials, etc.
- To fully understand supplier cost structure and logistics costs. Able to identify value added opportunities for Lane Crawford as appropriate
- Provide monthly updates to relevant parties on key costs and expenses related to buying
- Ensure that staff are utilising Omni-channel technology to encourage customers to shop on and off line, maximizing sales at every opportunity
- Monitor closely on a detailed open to buy (OTB) system controlling sales and stock levels to maintain seasonal target
- Work with stores to establish a balanced range of merchandise suited to the customer profile of store. Work together to make recommendations for changes and improvements to maximize sales potential and profit within the store
The Ideal Candidate
- Degree holder with a minimum 2 years of buying experience in retail industry, preferably with luxury fashion experience
- Able to deal with principals and vendors effectively
- Proven experience in managing multiple brands
- Proactive, figure sensitive and attentive to details
- Strong analytical ability with excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Excellent command in both written and spoken English, Cantonese and/Mandarin
- Proficient in all Microsoft applications
- Candidates with no buying experience will be considered as Merchandise Coordinator
