The Assistant Designer supports the design and development of woven collections, contributing creative ideas while assisting in execution. Reporting to the Senior Designer and Creative Director this role is suited for someone with 1–2 years of experience who is ready to take on more responsibility within a fast-paced design environment.
Responsibilities
• Support the design and development of four seasonal collections and any exclusive collections or collaborations from concept through to final garment.
• Conduct research on woven fabrics, trims, and seasonal trends; contribute ideas and references to support concept development.
• Create sketches and CADs to support seasonal design direction and product development.
• Assist in building and maintaining accurate technical specifications, including construction details
• Supporting follow-up on design changes and corrections post fitting
• Provide input on fabric selection, trims, and garment construction under the guidance of senior designers.
• Organize development samples, vintage samples fabrics, and trims to ensure efficient workflow across the team.
• Collaborate with Product Development, Technical Design, and Raw Materials teams to support smooth execution of designs.
• Assist in troubleshooting issues related to samples, fit, and construction, escalating where necessary.
• Help manage timelines, calendars, and key deliverables to ensure deadlines are met.
• Support preparation for internal reviews, as well as show and market presentations.
• Maintain an organized workspace, including line sheets, design boards, sample racks, and material libraries.
Qualifications
• Degree or diploma in Fashion Design or a related field
• Strong understanding of woven garment construction, fabrications, and current market trends.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
• High level of attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• A proactive, collaborative attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
Compensation & Benefits
• Salary range: $66,000 – $70,000 annually
