The Assistant Designer will assist Design with the execution of garments in the Johnny Was line. They will also collaborate with cross – functional teams such as sewing and patternmaking to ensure completion of line.
Position Overview:
Work collaboratively with design, patternmaking, sewing and production.
Communicate with overseas with vendors in a clear & professional manner.
Order fabrics/ buttons/zippers/trims for each season and tracking delivery to our office & factory
Send & track lab dips for each season & checking approved lab dips against salesman samples upon receiving.
Create tech packs and order prototype & salesman samples with all fabric, color, trim, wash, thread and embroidery details.
Create line-sheets & style charts for each season including sketches, style numbers, garment names, and fabric content.
Prepare for fittings by gathering all the samples and paperwork required.
After reviewing salesman line update showrooms & techpacks with any changes.
Organize prototype samples and fabrics to prepare for design meetings
Create body boards with all relevant silhouettes for the season to present at design meetings
Sketch CADs in Adobe Illustrator
Experience with PLM as well as Photoshop is a plus +
Track status of styles & sample requests from development through production by communicating with patternmaker and production team to maintain work flow and the progression of the styles.
Communicate with sales or merchandising team to develop special requests for wholesale clients or our own retail stores.
Ship sample requests to wholesale clients as well as ship development packages to vendors overseas.
Other duties as assigned.
Compensation: $22 -$25
