Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Assistant Designer to join our design team. This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for fashion, strong hand sketching skills, and a deep understanding of garment construction. You will work closely with the senior designer to develop seasonal collections, create technical sketches/initial tech packs, and support the entire design process from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide support to senior designer
Maintain and implement new organizational systems
Trend research for new styles, prints, and trims
Assist in creating initial tech packs
Keep swatches and samples organized
Archive projects and file organization
Assist in designing and developing collections based on client needs and market trends
Assist in reviewing lab dips & print strike-offs and submitting comments to factories
Create detailed technical sketches/flats using Adobe Illustrator and/or Procreate
Prepare presentation boards, color palettes, and trend research reports
Collaborate with the design and production teams to ensure accuracy in design execution
Assist in sourcing fabrics, trims, and materials in alignment with seasonal trends
Support sample development by coordinating with factories
Attend fittings and provide input on adjustments
Stay up to date on industry trends, competitors, and emerging styles
Attend and assist photo shoots and take detailed fit notes during shoot
Travel to industry trade shows in Las Vegas and possibly other locations several times per year to represent brand and stay up to date with our competitors
Qualifications:
Bachelor or Associate degree in Fashion Design
1-3 years of experience in apparel design, preferably in private label or fast fashion
Strong sketching ability
Proficiency in Procreate is highly preferred
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office
Knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and technical specifications
Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects
Excellent communication, organizational skills, and follow-through
This role is onsite in Van Nuys, CA.
Pay: $20/hour and up DOE
Job Type: Full-time
Expected hours: 40 per week
