Summary

As an Assistant Manager – Strategy & Development, you will be taking a major role in negotiating commercial contracts with key commercial partners, protection of Valiram Group Intellectual Property and other legal interests of the Valiram Group as and when advised by the Reporting Manager. You will assist to ensure internal and external legal compliance across the Valiram Group and carry out a variety of legal tasks and providing effective legal advice.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

Assess & review all relevant documents of the organisation to ensure legal compliance of the organization,

Assist in negotiations with brand principals, landlords, financial institutions, acquisition targets, vendors etc. and giving relevant and timely strategic and legal advice,

Oversee and manage any legal action taken against the Group and any of its companies,

Giving legal advice when and where required, including drafting letters, agreements, contracts, and other legal documents.

Travel to different locations to resolve deals and other legal matters on behalf the organisation,

Track the latest changes in laws and regulations across the region and the countries in which the Valiram Group operates,

Coordinate with external legal counsel and consultants and oversee the progress of their work as and when required,

Other ad hoc legal matters

Key Requirements:

Degree in Law, preferably with a Second Class Upper

At least 3 years’ commercial experience, preferably in private practice.

Strong numerical reasoning skills.

Strong organizational abilities with an eye for detail and effective time management to meet important deadlines.

Able to prioritize and manage tasks to completion within timelines stipulated. Efficient in balancing time and resources.

Ability to work with other functions and individuals to complete his/her task. Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

High Initiative/Self Motivated – High achievement drive. Can work with minimal supervision. Not afraid/shy to ask questions. Able to push his/her works forwards despite of challenges.

Quick earner and flexible. Able to learn and independent. Not shy to ask for clarification and directions.

Enjoys dealing with different types of people-different countries, different functions, agencies, etc

Loves retail & has an ability to understand the commercial realities of luxury & fashion retail
