Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Merchandiser – Knitwear Development to support our merchandising and product development team. The ideal candidate should have 4–5 years of hands-on experience in knitwear sampling and development, with strong exposure to dealing with local and international brands.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete knitwear sampling and development process from initial inquiry to approved sample.
- Coordinate with buyers, designers, production, sampling, fabric, printing, embroidery and other departments.
- Handle development of T-shirts, polos, hoodies, sweatshirts, joggers and other knitwear products.
- Prepare and follow up on tech packs, specifications, measurements, artwork and sample comments.
- Coordinate sample development according to buyer requirements, quality standards and deadlines.
- Communicate professionally with local and international buyers/brands regarding product development and sampling.
- Follow up on fabric, yarn, trims, accessories, printing, embroidery, washing and other development requirements.
- Check samples for measurements, construction, workmanship, fabric quality, colour and overall appearance before submission.
- Maintain proper records of sample status, buyer comments, approvals and revisions.
- Ensure timely submission of samples and development updates to buyers.
- Coordinate with the production and quality teams to ensure approved samples are accurately transferred into bulk production.
- Assist the merchandising team in resolving development and sampling-related issues.
- Maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers and internal departments.
Required Skills & Experience
- 4–5 years of relevant experience in knitwear merchandising, sampling or product development.
- Strong practical knowledge of knitwear fabrics, garments and sampling processes.
- Experience dealing with local and international brands/buyers.
- Good understanding of garment construction, measurements, fit and quality requirements.
- Knowledge of printing, embroidery, washing, dyeing and other garment development techniques.
- Strong communication, follow-up and coordination skills.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight sampling and development deadlines.
- Graduate/Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.
Preferred Candidate
The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, proactive and commercially aware, with a strong understanding of buyer requirements and the ability to coordinate multiple sampling developments simultaneously.
