Role Description The Assistant Visual Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Portland, OR, responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of visual merchandising standards throughout the store. This role collaborates closely with the Store Manager and Visual team to execute window displays, product layouts, and seasonal floor sets that reflect Garage’s brand identity and drive sales. Day-to-day tasks include styling mannequins, organizing product placement, monitoring stock presentation, and adapting visuals to local trends and customer feedback. The Assistant Visual Manager also trains and guides store team members on visual standards, ensures signage and promotional materials are accurate and current, and helps maintain a clean, organized, and engaging shopping environment. This position involves regular floor presence, hands-on merchandising, and coordination during peak periods, product launches, and promotional events.
Qualifications
- Experience with visual merchandising, including styling mannequins, creating displays, and maintaining cohesive product presentation.
- Background in fashion retail or apparel, with an understanding of current trends and customer preferences in a youthful, style-driven market.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple visual projects and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, including training, giving feedback, and working closely with store leadership and team members.
- Comfort with physically demanding tasks such as moving fixtures, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods in a fast-paced store environment.
- Attention to detail and a keen eye for color, proportion, and brand consistency in all visual executions.
- Availability for a full-time schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by retail operations.
- Previous supervisory or key-holder experience in retail is an asset; high school diploma or equivalent required, post-secondary education in fashion, design, or merchandising is an advantage.
