Our client is seeking a dynamic and creative Assistant Designer to join their team. This individual will play a crucial role in creating commercially viable product designs across collections, ensuring they align with the brand’s aesthetic and business strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the design team in creating brand-right, commercial designs that reflect the conceptual direction and business strategy
Deliver design sketches/prototypes and provide clear specifications for construction
Build and maintain the sample room
Create flat sketches and CAD images
Prepare the design team for routine and milestone meetings, including the coordination of line presentation boards/tableaus and selection of product samples
Communicate ongoing development details to internal partners and vendors
Partner with technical design on fit and execution of prototypes, assisting with scheduled fittings and necessary follow-up
Track and organize development samples, ensuring timely delivery
Attend routine team meetings and key partner alignment sessions
Adapt designs based on feedback, incorporating for finalization
Utilize resources in sourcing new ideas, both internally and externally, and stay up to date on competitor research/trend analysis
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Entry level with some design experience in a comparable retail environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign; Centric is a plus
Exceptional talent with a commercial fashion eye and detail in product styling/performance
Exceptional organizational skills and ability to recall information
Customer service philosophy and a team-oriented approach
Highly motivated, passionate, and results-oriented
Solid communication and presentation skills
Solid understanding and ability to communicate construction instructions
Champion for change and able to react with speed and agility
Flexible and creative problem solver
Personal professionalism and accountability
This role will be a hybrid role, with three days per week in the office and additional days based on business needs. The successful candidate will be provided with a company computer and will be expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. Portfolios are required for consideration.
