Fork Union Military Academy, an all-boys boarding school located in the beautiful central Virginia region near Charlottesville, Richmond, and the Blue Ridge Mountains, currently has an opening in our Barber Shop.
Operating the campus barbershop, the Barber is responsible for giving haircuts to cadets and staff for a neat military appearance. The role includes maintaining a clean, sanitary workspace and tools, and offering courteous and timely service. All work supports the disciplined environment of the military school and will adhere to the mission of the school.
Responsibilities:
Perform hair care services (haircuts, trims, shaving, shampooing) for cadets in a timely manner according to school grooming regulations.
Consult with cadets and appropriate staff on hairstyle needs; inspect hair and scalp for any conditions that might affect grooming services.
Sanitize and maintain barbering tools and equipment (combs, scissors, clippers) by cleaning and disinfecting; keep workstations, towels, and common areas clean and organized.
Maintain accurate records and scheduling: update the appointment book or logs by cadet name and service provided, and assist with inventory of hair care products and supplies.
Provide professional and courteous customer service at all times, ensuring cadet satisfaction and respectful interactions.
Perform minor equipment maintenance or repairs (e.g., replacing blades or plugs) as needed to keep shop equipment in working order.
Ensure 100% compliance with shop policies and military grooming standards.
