This is a 1099 Position
As a Beautician you will provide customers with beautician or barbering services, including cutting, trimming, shampooing, and styling hair. Beautician’s responsibilities include styling hair as per resident request.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Schedules residents for hair care as requested by resident and/or responsible party; provides schedule to nursing staff
Questions residents regarding services and style of haircut desired
Drapes and pins protective covering around customer’s shoulders
Cut, shape, trim, and tapers hair, using clippers, comb, and scissors
Applies lather and shaves beard or shapes hair contour (outline) on temple and neck
Performs other tonsorial services, such as applying hair dressings or lotions, dyeing, shampooing, singeing, or styling hair, and massaging face, neck, or scalp
Cleans work area and work tools
Maintains a clean and pleasant environment for residents
Orders and stocks routine beauty supplies
Assists with transporting residents to and from the beauty shop as needed
Perform all other duties as requested
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with residents, families, and other employees at all levels
Knowledge of beauty products and trends
Ability to provide personalized services based on each resident’s requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED
Licensed Beautician in the state of Colorado
Proven hands-on work experience as a Beautician
Experience working with Long Term Care residents preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Moves intermittently during working hours
Is subject to frequent interruptions
Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc
Communicates with the maintenance personnel, nursing staff, and other department supervisors
Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc. throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses
May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which includes a mental and physical examination
Must be able to push, pull, move, and /or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
