POSITION SUMMARY: This position provides all services to Beauty and Barber Shop to SENIOR CLIENTELE in accordance with industry standards and practices, management policies, and Texas Cosmetology Commission Regulations. ABSOLUTELY NO CHAIR (OR BOOTH) RENTAL AVAILABLE.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to speak, read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English. Incumbent must: a) be able to work with SENIOR CLIENTELE at Independent and Assisted Living, plus Memory Care facilities; b) a team-player who is comfortable working independently and within groups; c) always display tact, courtesy, and patience when dealing with Adante Senior Living residents, employees, supervisors, and management; and d) have the ability to interact with callers, walk-ins and all customers visiting the salon in a professional manner at all times.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a salon, providing beauty salon services to the elderly and frail, men and women.

EQUIPMENT AND COMPUTER OPERATIONS: Ability to use all basic equipment found within a beauty salon operation, as well as working knowledge of various office equipment such as copier, calculator, printer, etc. Training will be provided to familiarize incumbent with work-related equipment to ensure safety during use.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS: Must hold a current license issued by the Texas Cosmetology Commission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs requested cosmetology services offered, to include: shampoos, cuts, styling, teasing, curling irons, perms, curling, hair color, high lights, foil and cap, razor cuts, and shaving. MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH ROLLER SETS, AND BLOW-DRY STYLES FOR SENIOR CLIENTELE.
Cleans and sanitizes equipment and keeps work area clean, safe, and orderly, meeting all guidelines as required by the Texas Cosmetology Commission.
Notes changes in the appearance or behaviors of residents and promptly reports them to the Supervisor.
Stays abreast of industry trends, products, styles, and services, in order to maintain professional currency and proficiency, provide residents with the latest services, and keep the salon competitive with other salons.
Ensures all chemicals are properly stored and secured; complies with all safety guidelines in the use of products and chemicals in the beauty shop environment.
Schedules appointments for patrons with input from family members (when appropriate) and personal care staff to ensure there are no conflicts with other appointments.
Responds to inquiries regarding available services and appointments.
Maintains supplies on-hand to ensure proper delivery of services.
Maintains currency on use of Material Safety Data Sheets, to include where they’re located and how to use them in case of exposure.
Attends training sessions, classes, seminars, and other educational forums as required and approved by Supervisor to obtain required CEUs.
Prepares resident charge slips in a timely fashion.
Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

INTERNAL CONTROL: Within the scope of position duties, responsible for seeing that operations are effective and efficient; assets are safeguarded; and applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures are complied with. This position will handle confidential information, and must treat such with appropriate sensitivity.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled setting. Few environmental hazards are present, although the threat of communicable disease exists. Mild cleaning products, waxes, soaps, and chemical products used to provide cosmetology services are used in the immediate area. Mild pesticides are used periodically to control bug infestation. OSHA requirements are strictly enforced to minimize hazards to staff and patrons. Some lifting required to assist patrons to and from styling chairs. Very Hard work!

WORK SCHEDULE: Core work hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday; however, special projects or assignments may require working additional hours to include evenings, weekends, and holidays (rare).

WORK LOCATION: Work will take place either at the Salons at Adante, Shavano Park, TX, 78230, OR at The Landon Ridge Salon, 11349 Alamo Ranch Parkway, S.A., TX 78253.

ATTIRE/DRESS CODE: Salon attire is appropriate. Name tags are required to be worn at all times. Close-toed, slip-resistant shoes must be worn. (See employee contract for specific guidelines.) It is the intention of RGSG Company to ensure that employees maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times, while on duty.

RANGE OF PAY: Dependent upon qualifications and experience, with the intent to be competitive within the market.
