Our client, a successful mens’ fashion retailer now has an exciting opportunity for an experienced apparel Buyer/ Product Manager to join their established team at their state of the art Head office in Sydney.
This is an opportunity to join the best of the best in high volume fashion with a culture that promotes career progression and shares the success in the way of profit participation.
Joining a team of seasoned buyers and retailers you will have the opportunity to take ownership of your categories by driving them and seeing profitability, chasing margin along with controlling margins.
Key responsibilities include:
Manage a selection of categories (apparel & accessories) from a collaborative product selection, price negotiation, order placement to warehouse delivery
Understand the customer
Responsible for managing a commercial and desirable range that meets sales budgets, margin targets, proposed range mix and customer expectations
Continuous product development for your specific categories
Ability to trade your range in season and manage core lines
Identify new trends and product relevant to the customer through overseas travel and local market awareness
Monitor your product at retail level, collaborate with repeats and markdowns in weekly meetings
Work closely with graphic / textile designer and the production team
To be successful, you will have:
At least 3 years’ buying experience
Have a sound understanding of product, production and retail
Experience in menswear highly regarded
Strong creative eye and flair for fashion
Thorough understanding of fabric and garment construction
Effectively plan workload and prioritise tasks and achieve deadlines
Be a clear communicator and negotiator with the ability to influence and work well with a variety of people
Strong analytical and numerical skills
Commercially focused and results oriented
