Title: Buyer Assistant

Database and Vendor Maintenance
Enters product data and UPC codes for all saleable products into the computer system.
Fact-checks and creates SKU numbers for each new or existing product.
Notifies stores of any pertinent additions and/or deletions to the data files.
Updates data files as needed and deletes unnecessary files twice a year or as needed.
Keeps all data information confidential.
Secures data information by making sure that the database is backed up on a periodic basis.
Order Generation, Inventory Maintenance and Promotions
Sends out Carry-Over list and price changes to the stores via Weekly Messages/Daily Messages.
Uploads promotions and store requests to database as needed.
Tracks progress of discontinued/close-out promotions.
Compiles and sends availability list and product orders on a weekly basis.
Uploads product Purchase Orders weekly or as needed.
Run on-hands/sales for ancillary product categories & create suggested orders/solicits – send P.O. to vendors.
Maintain EDI & correct errors as they arise.
Handles receiving adjustments as needed.
Helps to resolve product late payment issues as needed.
Insurance and Safety Compliance
Compiles and updates Certificates of Insurance.
Updates Safety Data Sheets (SDS) as needed, adding the information to Pike’s database and creating SDS books for the stores every two years.
Confers with supervisor(s) regarding incomplete information or when questions arise.
Checks completed work for accuracy and makes any required changes immediately.
Liaison between the buying team and the website team
Works with buyers to get all products loaded for the websites
Works with website team on making sure that all product have all data and are displaying properly on the website
Partners with our suppliers to help them get us their data attributes needed for the websites
Reviews the site for accuracy and product placement
Skills, Abilities And Qualifications
Has working knowledge of plants, including plant identification and botanical name abilities.
Is very detail-oriented.
Has knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures.
Has good verbal and written communication skills.
Able to work under pressure.
Has accurate keyboard skills and can enter the data correctly and on time.
Is computer savvy and has a basic understanding of databases. Is proficient in Excel and other relevant computer applications.
Has the ability to plan, organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
Education and Experience
Has high school diploma or equivalent
Formal computer training an advantage
