R&R Sports Colorado is a premier resort retail and rental business serving the Vail Valley community and visitors. We are seeking an experienced, passionate Retail Buyer to join our team. In this key role, you will drive the selection, sourcing, and procurement of high-quality sports gear, apparel, accessories, and related products that align with our resort aesthetic, seasonal demands, and customer expectations. You will play a critical role in optimizing inventory, maximizing margins, and ensuring our boutiques and rental sites are stocked with trending, profitable merchandise year-round.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct market research and trend analysis specific to outdoor/sports retail, ski/snowboard gear, summer activities, resort apparel, and tourist preferences in a mountain destination market.
- Identify, evaluate, and select new and existing products from vendors that fit our brand, price points, and customer needs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and industry partners; negotiate favorable pricing, terms, discounts, delivery schedules, and payment conditions.
- Create and manage purchase orders, track shipments, and coordinate logistics to ensure timely arrivals aligned with peak seasons.
- Analyze sales data, inventory performance, turnover rates, and forecasts to make data-driven buying decisions, minimize overstock, and reduce markdowns.
- Collaborate with store teams, merchandising, and operations on product assortment, visual displays, promotions, and inventory allocation across locations.
- Attend trade shows, vendor events, and industry conferences (e.g., Outdoor Retailer) to discover new products and stay ahead of trends.
- Manage budgets, track financial performance of product categories, and provide regular reports to ownership on purchasing outcomes and recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, ethical sourcing, vendor contracts, and company policies.
- Support seasonal planning for winter (ski season) and summer offerings, including rental-related gear and accessories.
Job Types: Part-time, Full-time
Pay: $52,000.00 – $62,000.00 per year
