The Buying Assistant at Knix will work closely with the Buying and Merchandising team and play a pivotal role in assortment planning, purchase order management, and data coordination. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for products and the retail industry.

The Opportunity

Assortment Planning: Support the merchandising team in developing merchandising strategies and preliminary product assortments / Support the setup and maintenance of assortment plans, ensuring accurate style details and sizing scales for efficient planning.

Purchase Order Management: Assist in creating SKUs and UPCs / Managing colour codes in Netsuite / Handling the export and upload of purchase orders/ Collaborate with the Sourcing team on PO adjustments.

Data Management: Maintain SKU lists across platforms and reconcile any discrepancies.

Documentation and Reporting: Update weekly reports, compile costing information, and manage launch guides

Other Duties: Manage market research, ad-hoc reporting, and miscellaneous projects as needed

Collaboration: Build strong relationships with key partners and cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring smooth operations and supporting merchandising initiatives

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Fashion Merchandising, Business or Management preferred

Previous experience in merchandising, product management, or related roles, preferably in the apparel industry

Intermediate knowledge of Excel (VLOOKUPS, Pivot Tables) and experience with merchandising software/tools (e.g., retail planning systems, product lifecycle management software, basic Adobe Illustrator)

Strong analytical skills and proficiency in retail math

Strong organizational skills

Ability to communicate with cross-functional partners and build consensus

Creative thinking and a passion for staying abreast of market trends and consumer preferences

Knix is a hybrid work environment with our HQ office located in downtown Toronto (Queen and John). This role would require the incumbent to be in office 2 days every week.
