CD East High School Fall Play Costumes (2026-2027)

Summary
The Central Dauphin School District is seeking a creative and dedicated individual to support the Fall Play production at CD East High School for the 2026-2027 school year. This role involves overseeing the design, creation, and management of costumes for the play, ensuring that all costumes align with the vision of the production while enhancing the overall performance experience for students and the audience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the director and production team to understand the vision and requirements for costumes.
• Design and create costumes that reflect the characters and themes of the play.
• Source and manage materials, fabrics, and accessories needed for costume production.
• Fit costumes to individual students, making necessary adjustments for comfort and appearance.
• Organize and maintain a costume inventory, ensuring all items are in good condition and properly stored.
• Coordinate with student volunteers and other staff members to assist with costume changes and maintenance during performances.
• Attend rehearsals to ensure costumes are functioning as intended and make adjustments as necessary.
• Manage the costume budget, keeping track of expenses and ensuring cost-effective solutions.
• Assist with the overall production as needed, including participation in set design and other areas of the play.

Requirements

• Previous experience in costume design, theater production, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong creative skills with an eye for detail and aesthetics.
• Ability to sew and create costumes from scratch, as well as modify existing garments.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and volunteers.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during the rehearsal and performance periods.
• Passion for theater and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all participants.
• Knowledge of costume history and styles relevant to the play’s setting is a plus.
