Title of Position: Costume Coordinator

Report to: Costume Supervisor

Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Temporary Part-time: up to 29 hours per week; beginning ASAP through first week of June (see specific schedule below).

Compensation Range: $20 per hour

Job locations: Sacramento & Rancho Cordova

Travel Requirements

This role could involve regular travel between multiple program sites. Employees are expected to have reliable transportation. Mileage between assigned sites will be reimbursed at the standard company rate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct costume fittings and take measurements; mark needed alterations
  • Perform light sewing and costume repairs during tech week (helpful, but not required)
  • Serve as dresser for students during tech week and performances
  • Coordinate and support backstage costume volunteers
  • Transport costumes to and from performance sites
  • Maintain a calm, organized presence in a fast-paced environment, working with students K–12
  • Collaborate effectively with parent volunteers
  • Set up dressing areas, organize costumes, and clearly guide students on use and care
  • Oversee costume organization throughout rehearsals and performances
  • Prepare and pack costumes for return to the warehouse during strike after the final performance

Schedules:

Productions (must be available for all of the dates and times listed below for each school; if only available for specific schools, please include that in your cover letter):

  • Training with Costume Designer: availability during the week of March 27 between 10 am and 4 pm.
  • Elementary School in Sacramento: April 7 3:00-6:00 pm; April 8 3:00-6:00 pm; April 9 3:00-6:00 pm; April 10 3-8 pm with 30 min. Break.
  • High School in Sacramento: April 20-23 3-6:15 pm; April 24-26 5:30-9:30 pm.
  • Elementary School Rancho Cordova: April 27-29 2:30-5:45; April 30 4:30-8 pm.
  • Elementary School Sacramento: May 4-6 2:45-6:15 pm; May 7 3:30-6 pm; May 8 3:30-7:30 pm.
  • Elementary School in Sacramento: May 18-20 1:15-5:30 pm; May 21 12:45-4:30 pm; May 22 5:30-9 pm; May 23 11 am – 1:30 pm and 2:30-6 pm.
  • Middle School Sacramento: June 1 1:45- 6 pm; June 2 2:15-6 pm; June 3 1:30-6 pm; June 4-5 4:30-8:30 pm.

Required Qualifications:

  • Fingerprints and negative TB test required (NorCal Arts covers the cost of the fingerprinting and TB test, not the time needed to have them done).
  • CA Department of Justice criminal background check clearance;
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation criminal background check clearance;
  • Passion for working with youth.
