Position Overview:
We’re seeking a creative and detail-oriented Design Assistant to join our design team. In this role, you’ll collaborate with our founder and merchandiser to transform new design concepts into reality, while supporting the creation and execution of our luxury diaper bags and accessories. This position bridges the gap between creative vision and technical execution, ensuring both aesthetic excellence and technical precision.
Duties:
Collaborate with founder to interpret and develop design concepts from mood boards and creative direction
Translate design vision into technical specifications while maintaining design integrity
Create initial sketches /CADS and design variations based on creative briefs and market trends
Participate in design meetings and contribute creative solutions to technical challenges.
Create the technical packages for each design including CAD’S, detailed specifications, measurements, color-ways, fabrics and construction notes
Work with Product Development (PD) to ensure sample accuracy
Work with PD to prepare and organize materials for design reviews
Document and communicate design modifications and technical corrections to the factories & PD
Maintain organized digital archives of all technical specifications and design assets
Assist in material selection and testing for durability and functionality
Support cost analysis for new designs and construction methods
Manage and execute Design calendar milestones while identifying and resolving challenges proactively
Create and maintain a fabric, swatch and trim reference library
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or related field
2+ years’ experience in technical design, preferably in accessories and bags
Strong creative skills with the ability to sketch and interpret design concepts
Excellent proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop
Experience creating mood boards and design presentations
Strong understanding of materials, hardware, and construction techniques
Experience with technical specification packages and production documentation
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
Understanding of color theory and current fashion trends
Experience in translating creative concepts into technical specifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in luxury accessories or handbag design
Familiarity with sustainable materials and manufacturing practices
Experience with 3D design software
Understanding of Asian manufacturing processes and standards

Salary range: $75k – $80k plus Bonus
Position is full-time in office at our office in DTLA.
