Design and Product Development Intern
Sterling King is seeking a Design Intern for Summer 2024. The position is in New York City and will offer students the opportunity to gain hands-on design and production experience at a rapidly growing company.
Responsibilities
This is a very hands-on internship in which you will work directly with the Creative Director on tasks that include assisting in inspiration and trend research, product development, sourcing, e-commerce, content creation, administrative work, and studio management. The internship will also include sourcing raw materials, preparing materials for production, and running errands in the garment and jewelry districts, as well as assisting with a variety of projects as needed.
Researching inspiration, trends, and design details
Sourcing materials in the jewelry and garment district and running errands such as factory pick ups/deliveries
Assisting with all aspects of design process, including sketching, rendering, technical drawing and hand-modeling
Organizing raw materials, samples, mood boards, and inventory
Preparing and assembling raw materials (chains, crystals, findings, etc) for production and tech packs
Creating content for email marketing and social media
Administrative tasks such as packing orders, preparing for presentations or studio appointments, or otherwise supporting the team as needed on a project basis
Requirements
Eager to learn work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment in an intimate setting
Must be located in the New York City Metropolitan area. This is an in person position.
Experienced with Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, and Excel
Ideal candidate is familiar with jewelry materiality and has deep interest in jewelry and fashion
Experience in jewelry design (CAD or wax modeling) is a bonus but not required
Be able to receive college credit as this is an unpaid internship
