Designer – Men’s Outerwear & Bottoms
Location: New York, NY | On-site | Full-Time
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field
- 3–7 years of experience in apparel design
- Strong experience designing men’s outerwear and/or bottoms
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (Photoshop proficiency required)
- Experience creating detailed tech packs (flats, BOMs, construction details)
- Strong understanding of garment construction (zippers, pockets, seams, trims)
About the Role
A growing apparel company is seeking a hands-on Designer – Men’s Outerwear & Bottoms to support the creation of seasonal collections from concept through production. This role works closely with senior design leadership and cross-functional teams to bring innovative, market-relevant products to life.
Key Responsibilities
Design Execution
- Support the development of new silhouettes across outerwear, bottoms, and swim
- Create colorways and assist in seasonal design updates
- Translate concepts into production-ready designs
Technical Development
- Build and maintain accurate tech packs using Adobe Illustrator and Excel
- Include detailed flats, construction specifications, BOMs, and trim placements
- Ensure accuracy and consistency across all design documentation
Research & Trend Analysis
- Conduct market research on trends, competitor products, pricing, and materials
- Identify opportunities for innovation in fabrics, trims, and design details
Fit & Development Support
- Attend fit sessions, capture feedback, and update technical sketches accordingly
- Track revisions and maintain consistency across sizes and styles
Materials & Sourcing
- Assist in fabric and trim development and maintain organized reference libraries
- Support material selection aligned with design and cost targets
Vendor & Sample Coordination
- Communicate with vendors to request lab dips, strike-offs, and samples
- Coordinate sample preparation, labeling, and shipment to internal and external teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 3D design tools such as CLO 3D or Browzwear
- Background in contemporary or performance apparel markets
