A leading “Big Box” retailer is seeking an experienced Director of Merchandising in the Hardlines Categories to drive strategic product selection, pricing, and vendor relationships. This high-volume retail organization is looking for a results-driven professional with a proven track record of leading merchandising teams, optimizing assortments, and enhancing customer experiences.
As a key member of the leadership team, overseeing a team of merchandise buyers. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the product strategy, ensuring competitive pricing, and maintaining strong vendor partnerships. This is an on-site position, with relocation assistance available.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and execute a structured merchandising strategy, including product selection, demand forecasting, pricing, and customer segmentation.
Lead a team of merchandise buyers to drive sales, gross margin, and overall business performance.
Oversee product assortment expansion, ensuring alignment with market trends, competitive pricing, and brand identity.
Conduct competitive analysis and industry research to identify emerging trends and opportunities.
Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, securing priority access to new product launches and ensuring consistent inventory availability.
Collaborate with marketing, digital, and e-commerce teams to develop strategies that enhance product visibility and drive sales.
Implement training and development programs to enhance team skills and align with business goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree
10-15 years of merchandising experience
Proven leadership experience managing a team of merchandise buyers.
Exceptional negotiation skills and ability to foster vendor partnerships.
Track record of driving revenue growth through effective merchandising strategies.
Ability to travel as needed.
