Twinings Ovaltine has a Social Impact and Sustainability team of 18, with 13 of us based in its key sourcing countries. We are responsible for implementing and managing the company’s approach to ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) and monitoring the standards across our value chain.
The Ethical Sourcing Executive will play a pivotal role in coordinating and implementing the Factory Monitoring and Improvement Programme (FMIP) across Twinings Ovaltine’s global Tier 1 supply chain, supporting Ethical Sourcing Manager (based in China) to ensure suppliers’ sites are operating in line with the standards set out in our Code of Conduct. Your primary focus will be our Thailand-based sites, but the role will also be expected to provide support to suppliers in other geographies. To do so, the Ethical Sourcing Executive will work closely with colleagues in the Social Impact & Sustainability team, global buying functions, international suppliers, auditing companies, and certification bodies.
This role will really suit someone bringing experience of working with suppliers around all elements of Human Rights issues, as well as procurement-focused experience to give an understanding of the buying processes engrained in the role. You’ll be able to work independently with suppliers on issues identified in questionnaire and audits for improvement to be line with our standards, and with senior leaders in the region on escalation and remedy when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Review supplier self-assessment questionnaire and assess risks, in order to prioritize audits
- Organise and commission social and human rights audits, ensuring timely and accurate processes and reporting
- Review social and human rights audit reports
- Monitor suppliers’ progress in closing non-conformances
- Engage procurement teams and supplier representatives to facilitate understanding of high risks / significant findings identified and support escalation and remedy thereof
- Support the Ethical Sourcing Manager with the analysis of non-conformance data and generation of reports to identify requirements for supplier support and training
- Maintain supplier information up-to-date on the internal database and manage information on SEDEX
- Supporting suppliers’ capacity building by rolling out the e-learning training modules and tracking their progress
- Assist the Ethical Sourcing Manager in keeping the audit process and framework up to date, robust and reflective of global labour and human rights risks
- Supporting with general administrative tasks including purchase orders, vendor set up and the organisation of in-person supplier events
- Work with Ethical Souring Manager to ensure the company's responsible sourcing requirements and agenda are clearly communicated throughout the business in particular to procurement roles, through reporting, presentations and general engagement
- Participating, as required, in relevant industry bodies, acting as Twinings Ovaltine representative
- Supporting raw materials tracking, including progress towards meeting higher sustainability standards
- Supporting sustainability reporting when necessary
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Previous experience in responsible sourcing sector and social and human rights auditing skills
- Experience with an office / procurement environment in a similar industry
- Understanding of international labour laws and internationally recognized social, labour rights and human rights standards
- Ability to manage and analyse complex data set
- Full working efficiency in English and Thai
- Ability to interact and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Strong influencing skills
- Good command of Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel and PowerPoint are a must)
- Ability to manage own tasks and work well with colleagues across the global team
- Comfortable working in a busy environment with changing priorities
- Good understanding of different cultures and contexts
- Ability to travel locally and internationally when necessary (15%)
- Be a role model of ethics and integrity
Desirable
- Degree level in the law, social or development studies or in a relevant discipline
- Other Asian language such as Burmese would be an asset
