About The Role

The Events Communications Lead sits within the Customer Service & Communications Branch and offers an exciting opportunity to lead digital communications across some of Melbourne’s most iconic events.

This role plays a key part in delivering impactful outcomes for our community and supporting the strategic goals of the City of Melbourne by enhancing engagement, growing audiences, and reinforcing Melbourne’s reputation as Australia’s events capital.

Working within the Events Marketing team, you’ll drive the digital communications strategy across Premier Events including Melbourne Fashion Week, Now or Never, Moomba Festival and New Year’s Eve. This role shapes and drives website, social media and EDM/CRM experiences to deliver compelling audience journeys and maximise engagement and growth.

A Little More About The Role

  • Lead the strategic planning and execution of integrated digital communications for all Premier Events
  • Define and govern the tone of voice for each event across all owned digital channels
  • Oversee the design, development and optimisation of event websites, delivering best-practice user experience
  • Set and deliver social media strategy across Premier Events channels, with a focus on audience growth and engagement
  • Oversee CRM and EDM programs to support acquisition, retention and lifecycle engagement across key audiences

About You

You are a digitally savvy, creative storyteller and strategic thinker, comfortable leading end-to-end communications across multiple channels. You bring creativity, insight and collaboration to everything you do, and thrive in fast-paced, high-profile environments.

What Your Experience Might Look Like

  • Substantial experience leading the planning and execution of integrated digital communications campaigns, ideally within the events sector
  • Solid understanding of web design, social media landscape and EDM/CRM strategy, with the ability to translate this into effective audience and commercial outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience shaping and contributing to strategic communications initiatives that deliver against organisational and brand objectives
  • Outstanding communication skills, with a strong copywriting sensibility and the ability to craft clear, engaging and impactful content across complex correspondence and presentations
  • A creative and innovative mindset, with the ability to generate fresh ideas and translate them into compelling audience experiences
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive team culture, providing support, mentorship and constructive feedback to colleagues
  • Highly developed stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate effectively across multiple teams
