This position is for a Professional Expert in the field of Hair & Beauty for our after school program at Drew Middle School in South Los Angeles.
Position Summary: Reporting to the Program Manager, the Professional Expert brings a particularly high skill level and expertise to an after-school activity. The Professional Expert is recognized in his/her field as highly qualified.
Examples include professional musicians, professional artists or professional dance instructors for after-school academic enrichment (club) activities for elementary and middle school students.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides professional expertise to middle school students as part of comprehensive after school experience.
Leads high quality enrichment activity.
Accurately completes and maintains rosters and daily sign-ins (if assigned).
Mentors and acts as positive role model for student participants.
INTERESTS AND ABILITIES – Recognized as professional expert in:
Performing Arts: Dance, Cheer, Drumline, Drama, Music
Fine Arts: Painting, Drawing, Sculpting
Communications: Filmmaking, Journalism
Cosmetology: Hair Stylist, Make-Up Artist, Nail Technician
Other fields as approved by Director
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Recognized professional in chosen field
Demonstrated ability to work well with K-12 children and youth
Commitment to education
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Recognized as professional expert in:
Performing Arts: Dance, Drama, Music
Fine Arts: Painting, Drawing, Sculpting
Communications: Filmmaking, Journalism
Other fields as approved by Director
OTHER DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Must be COVID-19 vaccinated and be able to provide supporting documentation.
Pass a post-offer Live Scan (fingerprint/background clearance-Department of Justice) before commencing employment.
Reference checks will be conducted; employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable references.

COMPENSATION:

Program Hours: 3-15 hours per week
Compensation: $30 hour, no benefits
