My Dublin based client is currently recruiting for a Fashion Buyer Manager to join the team on permanent basis. This role will be working on a hybrid model. The Fashion Buyer Manager will support, lead and manage the fashion buying teams and ensure that commercial, yet profitable product ranges are developed and bought in order to maximise profit and sales.

Job Responsibilities

Support, lead, manage and motivate individual fashion buying teams within the fashion buying division

Oversee a number of our buying teams supported by our excellent buyers, ensuring that all are working in conjunction with the buying strategy, the needs of the customer and the company vision.

Responsible for the overall management of the buying teams, the fashion Buying Manager will have come from a strong senior buying position, and will possess the skills and qualities that a strong buyer will require including outstanding negotiation skills.

Experience Required

Strategic Commercial Planning: Work closely with key stakeholders like the Fashion Director and Head of Trade to deliver a solid commercial plan for selected categories. This involves aligning with buying teams and merchandise teams to ensure the execution of strategic goals.

Buying and Merchandising Execution: Develop and implement transformative buying plans to ensure that high-quality merchandise is available in appropriate quantities. This includes making buying decisions based on trends, public opinion, and market analysis to stay ahead of competitors.

Sales Analysis and Supplier Management: Analyze business sales to identify improvement areas, manage commercial relationships with suppliers, and ensure optimal vendor terms are maintained. This includes monitoring supplier performance and ensuring that contract terms regarding cost, delivery, and quality are met.

Team Leadership and Performance Management: Set clear targets for team members, monitor performance, and provide continuous feedback. Ensure the team is informed and supported in achieving their targets.

Inventory and Stock Management: Have oversight of high-level stock data and insights, managing metrics like seasonal forecasting, Open-to-Buy (OTB), stock levels, and stock movements from vendors to stores.

Competitor Analysis: Maintain awareness of competitors’ activities, both in physical stores and online, to ensure the brand remains competitive and capitalizes on market opportunities.

Budget Management: Collaborate with the Fashion Director and Head of Trade to prepare and review budgets, ensuring fiscal discipline in achieving sales targets and profit margins.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with teams across digital and retail operations to optimize merchandise placement and presentation both online and in-store to maximize returns per square foot.

Marketing and Promotions: Partner with Marketing and Creative teams to ensure promotional and creative commitments are met. This also involves planning merchandise promotions and advertising strategies in collaboration with marketing, buyers, and retail operations.

Professional Development and Team Building: Foster an inclusive workplace and support the professional growth of the buying team. This includes participating in recruitment, selection, and appraisal processes.

Assist in the recruitment, selection and appraisal of Buyers and Buying Office support teams
