DESIGN INTERNSHIP – JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Fashion Design Intern to join our team. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fashion industry and contribute to the design process.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Supports the designers in all tasks as requested, including sourcing fabrics and trims.
Ensures general studio tidiness is maintained with samples put away correctly, filing fabrics, and keeping the workplace organised.
Coordinate sample collection/delivery to/from factories.
Continuously involved in the design process, identifying key trends, sourcing fabrics, colours and shapes relevant to the brand
Attend design meetings, presenting ideas and working collaboratively with Team.
Contribute creative ideas and insights to brainstorming sessions and design meetings.
Assist with administrative tasks and ad-hoc projects as needed.
Collaborate with design team in hand embroidery and embellishing trims on garments
Requirements
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, CAD, Photoshop, Adobe & Illustrator
Confidence and ability to work at pace
Ability to prioritise, managing multiple deadlines and heavy workloads to strict deadlines
Knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and sewing techniques.
A problem solver, identifying issues immediately and addressing with design team efficiently
Strong understating of the design process
Trend-focused with an eye for detail
Capable of working autonomously and making strong creative decisions
Flexible working approach, diligent and able to adapt to the needs of the team
Great understanding of the Khanum’s brand and customer
Strong Team player and passionate for the brand and its success
Skills & Experience:
Currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program, preferably in Fashion Design or a related field.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience with stitching and garment construction, including machine sewing and hand stitching.
Minimum 1 years’ experience in a similar role within a fast-paced fashion environment
