JOB DESCRIPTION
Do you have a passion for fashion? Want to lead kids on the path to success? Is that path the runway? Join our team of superstars at STAR Education, teaching fashion and sewing for our elementary after-school enrichment programs. Our classes specializes in building confidence, hand-eye coordination, and allowing creativity to soar!
SALARY: $35 per hour
LOCATION: Elementary schools in and around Los Angeles (Westside, Hollywood, Valley, Mid-City, South Bay)
HOURS: Classes occur during the after-school hours on weekdays (approximately 2:45 to 5:15 on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 1:45 to 4:15 on Tuesday)
**NOVA Fashion Teachers travel to different schools throughout the week
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach fashion basics to a group of up to 14 students from TK-5th grade
Execute lesson plans STAR provides with the ability to add your own creative spin.
Attend Teacher Training where you will be trained in the subject discipline, classroom and behavioral management
Instructors are expected to arrive on time and provide an educational, safe and enjoyable class experience for students
QUALIFICATIONS
– Will have a minimum of at least one year fashion industry experience
– Will have experience teaching TK-5th grade students
– Will have the ability to draw (not required but a definite plus)
-Will have both hand and machine sewing knowledge
– Will have basic fabric knowledge
– Will have patience (young students learning fine motor skills, (scissors)
– Will have reliable transportation and be comfortable with transporting materials to schools
