Freelance Seamstress — Upcycled Streetwear (Robin The Baddie)
Robin The Baddie (RTB) is a Brooklyn-based upcycled streetwear brand built on 1-of-1, reconstructed pieces. We’re looking for a skilled freelance seamstress to join us on a collaborative, project-by-project basis.
Work will span multiple stages: starting construction on a Singer Heavy Duty home machine, hand-sewing detail work, and finishing garments on your own industrial machine. Projects include deconstructing purchased garments to draft new patterns and rebuild them in original RTB styles, sewing from purchased/commercial patterns, and possibly adding embroidery. Pattern drafting and cutting experience is required.
This is a hands-on, creative role — we’re supply-light and looking for someone comfortable collaborating on fit and design decisions rather than working from a fully locked spec. Interest in teaching or sharing technique is a plus, but not required.
Ideal for someone with a background in alterations, custom sewing, or reconstruction/upcycled fashion who wants flexible freelance work with room for creative input.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

- Do you have your own industrial machine, and if so, what make/model?
- Are you comfortable working across multiple stages of production — starting on a Singer Heavy Duty home machine, moving to hand-sewing detail work, and then finishing the garment on your own industrial machine at your studio?
- What hand-sewing techniques are you strongest in (hemming, felling, blind stitch, bar tacks, etc.)?
- Have you ever deconstructed a finished garment (taken it apart) to draft a pattern from it? What was that process like?
- RTB’s aesthetic is upcycled streetwear — raw edges, distressing, reworked silhouettes, 1-of-1 pieces. Does that style excite you, or is it a stretch from what you usually make?
- Do you own an embroidery machine? If so, what make/model, and what’s the max hoop size it supports?
- Are you located in Brooklyn?
