Full-Time Faculty Position in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing, School of Business and Technology Jobs in New York, NY at Fashion Institute of Technology
The Baker School of Business and Technology seeks a dynamic and passionate individual for a full-time faculty position within the Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing undergraduate program.
The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between industry and academia, bringing extensive professional experience in product development and laboratory management into the undergraduate classroom, supporting both the Associate of Applied Science and Bachelor of Science programs. This role involves teaching, curriculum innovation, student mentorship, and laboratory oversight, as well as active participation in institutional governance and industry partnership building.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering engaging undergraduate courses; mentoring students on academic and career pathways; and supporting adjunct faculty within the department.
- Managing and overseeing the college’s cosmetics and fragrance laboratory (supported by a dedicated laboratory technician).
- Designing, updating, and implementing innovative, industry-relevant curricula to keep pace with evolving market trends.
- Participating in department and college-wide committee work, shared governance, and student recruitment initiatives.
- Fostering and expanding strong partnerships with the cosmetics and fragrance industry to secure opportunities for students and the college.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in cosmetic and fragrance product development and proven laboratory management experience. Candidates should possess strong skills in higher education instruction or corporate training, along with a passion for driving institutional growth through committee service and shared governance.
Preference will be given to candidates with a proven track record of scholarly research, publications, and industry keynote presentations, panel participation, and active involvement in industry associations.

- Incorporate interdisciplinary programs to mirror how industry works in the cosmetics and fragrance business.
- Maintain strong connections with the beauty industry to allow for the integration of new professional procedures into the curriculum.

- Embrace new forms of teaching formats including online teaching, blended classes, the use of AI, and experiential learning.
- Foster writing, research, and critical thinking skills in the classroom.
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of team building skills.
- Provide platforms for the development of student presentation capabilities.

- Maintain active participation and engage in industry-related research projects which can inform and enhance the discipline.
- Participate in conferences for the cosmetics and fragrance industries.
- Maintain a strong network of alumni and industry experts who will serve as a resource for internships, mentors, curriculum development, guest speakers and placement opportunities for graduates.
- Demonstrate currency and engagement in the primary teaching discipline.
Technology
- Demonstrate ability to apply the latest technologies to enhance learning and teaching, and skill building.
- Incorporate programs provided by the SUNY Learning Network (SLN) in the classroom and in online and blended classes.
- Attend workshops and seminars, and other educational opportunities offered to/for FIT faculty.
- Provide students with the knowledge of the latest technologies used by the cosmetics and fragrance industries
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a field related to the cosmetics and fragrance industry, or actively in progress.
- 10+ years of professional experience in the cosmetics and fragrance industries, with a strong focus on product development and laboratory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching in a college/university environment, mentorship, and/or experience in corporate training.
- Demonstrated professional achievement in the cosmetics and fragrance field through industry recognition, keynote presentations, and/or panel participation.
- Global experience in the field.

Salary
The final starting salary and appointment rank will be based on education level and cumulative experience; Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Salary Schedules pgs. 73-74.
Instructor: $69,346.37 – $80,793.82
Assistant Professor: $80,736.40 – $118,984.88
Associate Professor: $94,498.31 – $142,271.78
Professor: $115,232.32 – $173,403.37

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The working conditions for this position will be any combination of the classroom, lab, and/or office space. Certain roles may be required to handle machinery and chemicals. The physical requirement for this position will require occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional bending, frequent walking, and occasionally lifting 10 lbs. or less.
