Full-time – Part-time Licensed Hair Stylists/Hair Assistants Jobs in New York, NY at Salon West
Vive Salon & Spa, an AVEDA Salon, is a busy salon catering to high-end clientele. Located 15 minutes from the Woodlands Town Center, 5 minutes from Cinepolis Cinemas and many more shopping centers down Kuykendahl Road.
At Vive, you can expect to get hands-on AVEDA experience under the guidance of master stylists, in-house and off-site extended education classes, and expert support to help you progress within the Vive Team and further your career. Our programs are designed to help you gain experience, grow in confidence, and become an accomplished stylist quickly.
The ideal candidate is a team player with a Texas cosmetology license and very experienced with a clientele already built. This person holds honesty, integrity, and excellence as top priorities. Previous AVEDA training and product knowledge with proven retail sales experience is highly desired, but not mandatory. Must have reliable transportation and be available to work early evenings and Saturdays.
Responsibilities Include but not limited to:
Welcoming customers and consult them about hairstyles and haircuts according to their face shapes, tastes and preferences.
Wash, rinse and dry clients’ hair using appropriate shampoos and conditioners (e.g. for oily hair or dry scalp)
Cut, trim and shave hair using professional equipment,
Apply hair treatment products, as needed (e.g. color protection creams and hydrating masks)
Serve walk-ins
Ensure tidiness of beauty stations and sterilize tools, as needed
Learn about all the products and cross-sell hair care products or services, when appropriate
Skills
Experience as a Stylist or Colorist 3 or more years
Proficiency in hair straightening and curling methods, using hot irons and curlers. Knowledge of basic and advanced styling techniques including a wide range of haircuts/styles suitable for all hair lengths (braids, top knots, formal and everyday looks, etc).
Hands-on experience with various coloring techniques (highlights, ombré, balayage)
Familiarity with hair treatment products and services, like keratin smoothing
Up-to-date with industry trends
Team player
Personable with excellent communication skills
Physical stamina to stand for long hours
Flexibility to work in shifts
Valid license from a cosmetology school
