Duties
- Measure customers accurately to determine necessary tailoring adjustments for a perfect fit
- Use sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques to alter garments including hems, seams, and repairs
- Construct or modify clothing pieces according to customer specifications and store standards
- Provide friendly, professional customer service by explaining tailoring options and offering style advice
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace with all sewing tools and materials readily accessible
- Manage multiple tailoring projects efficiently while adhering to quality standards and deadlines
- Assist in inventory management of sewing supplies and ensure proper maintenance of equipment
Qualifications
- Proven experience in fashion retail or garment construction with strong sewing skills
- Proficiency in operating sewing machines and understanding garment construction techniques
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Basic math skills for taking measurements, calculating fabric needs, and adjusting patterns
- Knowledge of sewing machine maintenance and troubleshooting is preferred
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
