Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and talented Hair Braider to join our Gillian Johnson Salon team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for hairstyling, especially braiding techniques, and a deep understanding of different hair textures. You will be responsible for providing high-quality braiding services to clients, offering advice on styles, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
This position is open as a Commissioned Braider or as an Independent Braider looking to rent a booth at the salon.
Responsibilities:
Provide professional and creative hair braiding services, including but not limited to box braids, cornrows, Senegalese twists, fishtail braids, and other specialized braiding techniques.
Consult with clients to determine their desired look, providing expert recommendations based on hair type, face shape, and preferences.
Maintain a clean and organized workstation, following salon hygiene and safety guidelines.
Assist clients with the care and maintenance of their braids, offering advice on products and techniques for long-lasting styles.
Stay up to date on the latest braiding trends and techniques to provide clients with the most current styles.
Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, ensuring they feel comfortable and satisfied with their services.
Ensure timely completion of each client’s service while maintaining quality.
Collaborate with fellow stylists and the salon team to ensure a smooth, efficient workday.
Requirements:
Minimum of 1 year of professional braiding experience.
Proven ability to execute a wide range of braiding styles with precision and creativity. Mastery of a wide variety of braiding styles (e.g., box braids, cornrows, twists, etc.).
Strong knowledge of different hair textures and the best techniques for each.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
A portfolio or photo examples of previous braiding work is preferred.
Experience with doing kids braids is preferred.
For commission braiders, salary depends on experience and will be further discussed during interview.
