Hair Stylist Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable licensed hair stylist to join our growing team, who also either knows how to do lash extensions or willing to learn. As a hairstylist, your number one priority is to provide exceptional hair services and do everything possible to make our clients happy and make them feel like they are the most important person in the room. In this position, you will play a key role as part of our salon staff, ensuring the most relaxing and rejuvenating experience possible for our clients. You should be self-motivated and able to work independently. Excellence in customer service is a must. In addition to providing hair services, you will be responsible for selling our beauty and skincare products, so sales experience is a plus.
Hair Stylist Duties and Responsibilities
Greet clients in a friendly manner and identify their preferences by asking clarifying questions
Consult and recommend hairstyles and haircuts according to customers’ face shapes and tastes
Wash, massage, rinse and dry clients’ hair using appropriate shampoos and conditioners
Cut and style hair using basic and advanced techniques
Cut, trim and shave hair using professional equipment
Apply a wide range of hair coloring techniques – i.e. highlights, ombre and balayage
Create hairstyles for formal events and everyday looks, including braids, ponytails and buns
Apply hair treatment products, as needed (e.g. color protection creams and hydrating masks)
Document client formulas for other stylists to use when needed
Form bonds with loyal customers and remember their hairstyle preferences
Cross-sell hair and skin care products or services
Answer phones professionally and schedule clients
Ensure workstations / chairs are clean in between clients and at end of day
Proper maintenance of salon equipment
Laundry
Make coffee and clean coffee maker when needed
Daily clean-up duties ensuring salon looks clean and tidy at all times
Hair Stylist Requirements and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Current state cosmetology license in good standing
Flexible availability, including weekends and evenings
Exceptional customer service skills
Must be a team player
Skilled and knowledgeable of hair products
Able to suggest and sell products based on specific needs
Ability to manage time well and prioritize work
