The Hair Stylist position is responsible for providing hair styling services to Plymouth Harbor residents and their guests.
Hours: Flexable schedule, No weekends.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Greet residents and identify their preferences through congenial conversation.
2. Recommend hairstyles and haircuts according to residents’ face shapes and tastes.
3. Wash, rinse, and dry residents’ hair using appropriate shampoos and conditioners (e.g., for oily hair or dry scalp).
4. Cut, trim and shave hair using professional equipment.
5. Apply a wide range of hair coloring techniques, like highlights, ombre and balayage.
6. Create hairstyles for formal events and everyday looks.
7. Apply hair treatment products, as needed (e.g., color protection creams and hydrating masks).
8. Form bonds with residents and remember their hairstyle preferences.
9. Ensure tidiness of beauty stations.
10. Ensure that equipment and tools are properly sterilized, as appropriate.
11. Maintain product knowledge to promote and sell spa services.
12. Perform other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of a recognized cosmetology school.
Experience:
Minimum three years’ experience as a hair stylist in the field.
General:
Must be proficient in hair straightening and curling methods, using hot irons and curlers.
Must have hands-on experience with various coloring techniques.
Must have knowledge of a wide range of haircuts, suitable for all hair lengths.
Must be familiar with hair treatment products and services.
Must be up to date with industry trends.
Must have good organizational skills.
Must be a detail-oriented person and able to perform duties with great accuracy on a daily basis.
Must have excellent personal skills, demonstrating the ability to conduct oneself in a non-controversial style; a style that inspires the respect of others and promotes a sense of trust in the individual’s competence.
Must have good communication skills, speaking, writing, and listening.
Must be fluent in English.
Must have excellent computer skills.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs with emphasis on Excel and Outlook, with the ability to learn and use proprietary software as required.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
Must be currently licensed as a hair stylist in the State of Florida.
