Responsibilities
- Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm and style hair according to client instructions or preferences.
- Analyse hair and scalp condition and provide custom treatments.
- Advise clients on beauty care treatments and recommend suitable hairstyles.
- Apply hair extensions, bleach, tints, dyes, rinses and perform colouring techniques such as bleaching, streaking and highlighting.
- Provide other hair treatments including waving, straightening, and scalp-conditioning massages.
- Shave and trim beards and mustaches.
- Supervise apprentices or students in training.
- Book appointments, shampoo customers’ hair, perform receptionist duties, and maintain and order supplies.
Techniques
- Hair Styling: blow drying, iron waving/curling, permanents, roller setting, extensions, hair braiding.
- Hair Colouring: bleach, dyes/tints, frosting, streaking/highlights.
Qualifications
- Education:
Some high school required.
- Experience:
2 to less than 3 years as a hairstylist.
- Skills:
Reliability, teamwork, efficient interpersonal skills, client focus, and dependability.
- Languages:
English required.
