Job Title: Head Designer
This role will be responsible for designing and developing seasonal collections for our tween and junior customer, with a focus on fashion-forward silhouettes, special occasion dresses, sportswear, and coordinated separates. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for color, print, fabrication, and emerging trends, while understanding the balance between fashion, fit, quality, and commercial success.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop seasonal apparel collections that align with the brand aesthetic and customer.
- Research fashion trends, market opportunities, fabrics, colors, trims, and silhouettes.
- Create sketches, technical flats, CADs, and presentation boards for seasonal line development.
- Develop seasonal color palettes, print concepts, and design direction.
- Collaborate with merchandising, sales, and production teams to ensure collections meet business objectives.
- Prepare and maintain detailed tech packs and design specifications.
- Review samples and provide fit, construction, and styling comments throughout development.
- Work directly with overseas factories and vendors to communicate design intent and ensure product execution.
- Attend fittings and participate in product review meetings.
- Partner with sourcing and production teams to identify cost-effective materials and construction methods.
- Ensure all designs meet quality standards, target costing, and delivery timelines.
- Maintain awareness of competitive brands, retail trends, and customer preferences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field.
- 3+ years of apparel design experience, preferably in girls’, tween, junior, or contemporary fashion.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience creating technical flats, CAD artwork, and tech packs.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and fabrication.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of overseas product development and manufacturing processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing dresses, occasion wear, sportswear, or coordinated collections.
- Knowledge of print development and embellishment techniques.
- Experience working with Shopify, PLM, or apparel management systems is a plus.
- Passion for trend forecasting and youth fashion markets.
Salary $120,000
