About The Team

Owndays is in search of an analytical, entrepreneurial, agile, and proactive leader to lead the Merchandising Planning & Strategy function. Someone who is passionate about leveraging data & technology and new age Merchandising Management Systems and Processes. The incumbent should be passionate about Product, with a strong sense of Consumers & Design.

The person should have a proven track-record in consulting for large-scale retail merchandising and communication for a successful, high-growth brand. S/He should have a keen sense of numbers, and believe in making data-driven decisions.

What your responsibilities will be

Lead our merchandising planning & strategy capability across both online and offline stores, with key focus on the technology of modern Merchandising in an Omni-channel set-up.

Utilize category and market analysis to create a supply strategy that will maximize long-term opportunities and competitive advantage.

Maximize long-term commercial opportunities and minimize areas of risk, acting on performance analysis, sound judgement and change management.

Take accountability for delivering a balanced and considered range against planned financials.

Identify opportunities to improve inventory asset utilization to drive sales and margin for the businesses.

Analyze trading patterns, challenge and advise teams to ensure appropriate action is taken.

Work within merchandising as well as across the business to continuously develop best practice working (process and systems).

Who we are looking for

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or a related field.

12+ years of experience in management consulting, business strategy or strategic planning

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with strong commercial acumen. Deep data analysis and building insights capabilities

Proven track record of developing and executing successful business strategies in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Experience in fashion retail or e-commerce, focusing specifically on product development and merchandising

Focus on Tech-enabled Merchandising Management Systems and Planning

Experience strategizing, running, analyzing, improving supplier, and product strategies

Strong communication, organizational skills and attention to detail

Strong project management and stakeholder influencing skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities

Fluent in Japanese and English.

Preferred Qualifications:

MBA or advanced degree preferred

Experience in retail sector preferred
