Role Description The Head of Purchasing is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai. This role oversees all purchasing activities, including supplier selection, negotiation, order management, and contract administration for garment accessories and related materials. The person in this position will develop and implement purchasing strategies, monitor inventory levels, and coordinate closely with production, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement. Daily responsibilities include analyzing market trends, evaluating supplier performance, optimizing purchasing processes, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards. The Head of Purchasing will also lead and mentor the purchasing team, drive cost savings initiatives, and support long-term vendor relationships that align with the company’s growth and quality objectives.
Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong knowledge of Purchasing Processes and Purchasing operations, including requisition management, order placement, and vendor evaluation.
  • Candidates should possess proven Supplier Negotiation skills, with experience in pricing discussions, contract terms, and long-term vendor relationship management.
  • Candidates should possess solid Procurement and Supply Chain Management skills, including demand planning, inventory coordination, and logistics alignment.
  • Candidates should possess experience in strategic sourcing, cost optimization, and data-driven decision-making within a manufacturing or apparel environment.
  • Candidates should possess leadership abilities, team management experience, and strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Candidates should possess proficiency with ERP or procurement systems and basic analytical tools (e.g., Excel, reporting dashboards).
  • Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field; advanced certifications in procurement or supply chain are an advantage.
  • Candidates should possess a high level of integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to work on-site in Mumbai in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
