Housing Operations Assistant, Residential Life Jobs in New York at Fashion Institute of Technology
The Residential Life Housing Operations Assistant is a part-time role, responsible for operations under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Housing Operations. This includes but is not limited to dining changes and billing, room changes and facilities work order requests. They will also be involved in professional staff meetings and further development of the Office of Residential Life.
Essential Functions:
Housing Operations
- Assist with the room selection process.
- Respond to internal and external requests, inquiries, and concerns through the Res Life email.
- Work closely with dining services to coordinate meal plan changes.
- Facilitate room change requests including room inspection and key reports.
- Communicate current occupancy with campus partners such as the Mailroom and Facilities.
- Coordinate and manage the Post-Selection Housing Process.
Facilities Management
- Follow up on outstanding maintenance requests and facility condition assessments.
- Respond to student and parent concerns regarding facility conditions, coordinating with Facilities and other campus departments to resolve issues.
Summer Programs
- Work closely with Marketing Committee to promote and advertise for Summer Intern Housing.
- Serve as a point of contact for summer conferences and intern housing.
- Assist in the housing selection process for Summer Programs and assist with move in and out.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Understanding of student development philosophy, residence hall management and ability to work with a diverse student and staff population.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, organizational skills, and excellent skills in oral and written communications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior work experience in residential life or student leadership strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Excellent communication and demonstrable ability to focus on details with excellent follow-through capabilities.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Google Suite, StarRez, and demonstrable aptitude to learn new technologies.
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects under frequent deadlines.
- Read, understand, and express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written form.
- Demonstrate the ability to navigate policy and regulatory nuance.
- Positive attitude and excitement toward work.
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and be a strong team member.
- A good sense of humor and a desire to laugh often are highly valued.

Salary
Salary: $25 per hour

Work Schedule
Days/Hours: M-F, 20 hours per week, in person; work schedule subject to change based on needs of the department.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The working conditions for this position may be in any combination of an office space and residential housing. The physical requirement for this position will require constant sitting, frequent standing, occasional bending, occasional walking, occasional pulling, pushing, or reaching, occasional use of hands to handle objects, and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
