Job description
Kapoor Industries is looking for a creative and talented Jr. Designer – Home Textiles/Towels to join our team! Based in the NY Metropolitan Area will work well independently as part of our hybrid team, spending minimum of 3 days per week in the office and two days working remotely from home environment. In office days will be determined by business needs at times may be full time in office. The ideal candidate will have a natural eye for color, texture and pattern, and the ability to communicate well in a collaborative, creative environment. This role is perfect for a self-starter who is inspired by the challenge of creating innovative woven bath, beach and kitchen towel collections. With the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in textiles, including understanding of fabrics, finishes, and textile construction.
- Skills in embroidery and textile prints, with the ability to translate concepts into production-ready designs.
- Graphics and graphic design skills, including proficiency with industry-standard design software (Photoshop a must).
- Attention to detail, color sense, and ability to follow brand guidelines and design direction.
- Relevant education in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate design ideas clearly.
- Time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior internship or entry-level experience in textile or fashion design is an advantage.
Requirements:
- Degree in Textile Design, Styling, Textile Fashion, Soft Home Product Development
- At least 2-4 years of related industry experience
- Creative, highly organized, and inspirational thinker
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Commitment to learning and continuous development
- High level of pride in the quality of work and detail-focused
- Ability to build strong working relationships with cross functional teams.
- Multitask and adjust to shifting priorities.
- Work independently as well as with a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be expert level in Photoshop for textiles.
- Strong understanding of Adobe Photoshop, Excel, PPT, Microsoft 365
- Understanding of how to create screen separated production-ready artwork in various types of repeats.
- Strong understanding of color and color relationships
- Understanding of different woven/ printing techniques and fabrications
- Experience in soft home categories such as bath, kitchen towels, bedding, tabletop.
- Experience in woven towels a plus.
Responsibilities:
Take design direction from Sr. Designers and VP of Design, develop original concepts and designs woven, print and embroidery collections.
- Translate prints into woven production art files based on design parameters and needs.
- Develop multiple colorway options with alternative layouts for customer review.
- Collaborate with design, product development and merchandising teams to create cohesive textile design and trend presentations/ boards including digital color/print decks and physical artwork boards for all customers.
- Create, managing and updating line sheets and seasonal color palettes per customer.
- Work proactively according to development calendar to meet all deadlines to ensure timely production delivery by ensuring project is on schedule.
- Assisting in showroom setup and attending external and internal meetings as needed.
- Sample and product management
- Developing tech packs for mill and overseeing the process from concept to completion.
- Create production-ready color separations that meet technical and requirements for proper execution.
- Proactively communicate and provide updates on status of projects and samples.
- Reviewing and confirming color and construction accuracy of samples.
- Participating in trend research and curating boards for meetings.
- Conducting competitive shopping and reporting findings.
- Present and communicate design vision to internal and externally. Monitor the market and competitors to identify new opportunities and trends.
