API Holdings Ltd has three engineering based subsidiary companies whose expertise span across a variety of engineering specialties. API Engineering specialises in the design and manufacture of capital equipment and tooling for the steel, agricultural and oil and gas industries. Much of their work is complimentary to sister company PPI Engineering whose expertise lies with rotating electrical machines and on-site service work. API Holdings also has a wholly owned subsidiary API Capacitors which is the last UK manufacturer of power capacitors. Much of the work API Holdings completes provides diverse opportunity and challenges. We are currently looking to recruit the following personnel:
Junior Buyer
Overview:
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their career who's ambitious, confident, and eager to build a long‑term future in a great organisation.
You will be working for an organisation that is expending rapidly in the field of mechanical and electrical engineering and have a great opportunity to step into a thriving industry.
The Role:
Supporting the procurement team with purchasing materials, services and equipment
Tackling challenges internally and with the supplier base
Negotiating with suppliers to secure the best overall cost and terms
Building strong relationships across the supply chain
Collaborating with internal stakeholders
Requesting & comparing quotes, raising purchase orders, and tracking deliveries
Developing commercial awareness and industry knowledge from day one
The Candidate:
A confident communicator – especially on the phone
Someone who's naturally persuasive and enjoys negotiating
Being open to challenges
A proactive, commercially minded individual
Strong interest in developing a long‑term career in procurement
Motivated, organised, and eager to learn
What's included:
Full sponsorship for the CIPS qualification (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply)
Close mentorship from the Head of Department
Requirements:
Good literacy and maths.
Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office, Word & Excel.
Driving licence and Passport preferable.
