Purpose of the job
As a Junior Buyer you will contribute to the continued growth of Superbalist as a partner to the Buyer within a product category (or categories). Your primary responsibility will be to manage a buying portfolio with guidance from the Buying Manager and to support the department across all administrative functions related to the purchasing of products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for managing a portfolio alongside supporting the Buyer on administrative work.
- Work with a buyer in nurturing and procuring relationships with merchants, both local and international brands.
- Identify new and on trend businesses and products for your portfolio.
- Supplier relations – maintain and build key accounts with merchants.
- Trend forecasting and analysis.
- Develop, execute and monitor merchandise strategy.
- Work alongside planning to establish buying plans and strategies that will maximize sales margin and profit.
- Conduct monthly comp shops and apply learnings.
- Analyze product performance and react to trading conditions.
- Timely placement and delivery of purchase orders.
- Complete spreadsheets accurately and gather all required product data.
- Administrative tasks around buying and uploading product data onto our system.

Your Qualifications & Experience
- 1-2 years experience as a junior buyer or assistant buyer.
- A strong negotiator.
- Tertiary degree, diploma or certificate is advantageous
