Vivienne Westwood is looking for a Junior Buyer (JB) – Japan and Accessories to join the Head Office in the Conduit Street Office on a full-time basis for 12 months.Key Responsibilities
Buying of main lines for 6 Japanese Partner shops, aligned with buying strategy
Inter-company comms to enable exchange of info & implement change & improvements.
Japanese speaking/knowledge & Japanese market is preferred.
Support the Senior Buyer (SB) /Buying Manager (BM) of Accessories dept. specifically with bags, SLGs & other accessories (covering the UK, EU & US markets) analysis & reporting.
Manages & develops the AB/BAA ensuring tasks are prioritised & completed efficiently.
Supports Buying dept. with preparation budgets & record keeping.
Profile & Keyskills
Company strategy – trends & customer profile.
Problem solving & finding ways of maximising performance, suggesting ways to improve efficiency within dept.
Knows department/category best & worst sellers to ensure maximising sales potential in stores (both buying season & through analysis)
Dept sales & trading & proactively problem-solving own issues as well as others.
Awareness of the market through regular meetings with the Partners, visits to competitors to review their trend launches, product mixes, pricing structure, display techniques & promotional activity & uses this to inform commercial decision making.
Concisely summarise department best & worst sellers in sell thru meetings & cater to audience.
Knowledge of commercial results & impact to business.
Prioritise efficiently & highlights to Buyer/SB/BM of issues.
Supports Buyer/SB/BM to drive department performance
problem solving attitude to day-to-day activities.
Customer focused & Commercially edept to maximum profit
Ensure merchandise launches are phased appropriately.
Considers store ranging requirements when building the range & develops & balanced range throughout
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of VW companies & how they interact with each other through invoicing etc- proactively seeks to develop knowledge & thorough understanding.
Keeps up to date on technical work carried out by AB/BAA
Agrees time scales & responsibilities to achieve department goals
Takes responsibility for the work standards of AB/BAA & ensures all tasks are completed by the deadline
Shows management skills with AB/BAA through delegation & monitoring of work & training
Follows up delivery issues with AB & actively works to problem solve. During delivery windows monitors deliveries weekly, updates Buyer/Senior Buyer/Buying Manager, & requests information from the relevant team. Awareness of delivery windows.
Effective stakeholder communication
Delivers to support buying dept in all aspects of buying function
Expected to make suggestions during buying to support Buyer/Senior Buyer/Buying Manager during the busy period
Able to work under pressure & prioritise workload
Sales reporting & competitor analysis to inform business strategy
TECHNICAL SKILL
Proficient in Microsoft
Understanding of fashion trends
Ability to buy a comprehensive product range carefully & accurately explain considered decisions.
Knowledge of current competitive market place (comparative shopping)
Understanding of delivery windows, phasing, sale dates & key launch/event dates
